Founded in July, 2000, AM Health and Safety Inc. is dedicated to the memory of Andrew A. Mammarelli, Jr. CIH, CSP. Mr. Mammarelli, a navy veteran, received his masters from the University of Pittsburgh for Public Health. He was known for his integrity and love for the health and safety industry and inspired all that came in contact with him.

Mr. Mammarelli started his career at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an industrial hygienist. There he helped develop the first exposure limits for employees. He encountered mentor relationships with Mr. Bernard J. Quinn, CIH; Mr. Elmer Burd, OSHT; and Mr. Gary D’Alessandris;

Andy Later pursued a career at J&L Steel, known today as LTV Steel, as an industrial hygiene manager. There he met and counseled Mr. Salvatore Colalillo CSP on the various aspects of Industrial Hygiene. Andy moved on to pursue a career at Comprehensive Safety Compliance (CSC) where he held the position of industrial hygiene and safety services manager. At CSC, Mr. Barry Momyer, CIH, REM, inherited Andy’s knowledge of the health and safety industry.

Andy was an active member of the Association of the Iron and Steel Industry (AISI) and the past president of the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s local chapter. Mr. Mammarelli also played an active role in the local chapter of the Health Physics Society.

Andy died much too early due to esophagus cancer. He will always be remembered as an influential man in the health and safety industry. Mr. Mammarelli’s dedication and knowledge will remain in the men that he supervised and trained. His legacy will always remain at AM Health and Safety,Inc.
