SAFETY DATA SHEETS
An integral part of a hazard communication program is writing, reviewing and approving Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in accordance with OSHA's HazCom Program particularly HazCom 2012 requirements.. This information must be readily available to all employees and contractors working at your facilities as well as customers purchasing your products. In addition, this information must be made available to local emergency response organizations as part of their emergency planning process.
There are numerous SDS development styles, which may range from providing an extensive amount of information to being insufficient in meeting your needs. Thus, the distribution of SDS to your employees, vendors, contractors, or customers can be a dynamic process.
Program Review
AM H&S can conduct a review of your current program for regulatory compliance and internal policies/procedures to adjust and improve the structure of the existing system(s).
SDS Review/Preparation
AM H&S can provide an array of services ranging from preliminary reviews to detailed production of product specific SDSs.
Customization/Standardization
AM H&S can review and revise your SDS(s) into one common format that is compliant, consistant and easily retrievable by employees. Training on a standard format is more efficient than reviewing multiple styles and will improve compliance. SDS(s) are not generated by software programs, rather they are customized by a Registered Specialist in, SDS and Label Authoring.
Chemical / product hazard evaluation can be performed by a PhD Toxicologist.
Distribution
AM H&S can review your existing SDS distribution system and can make recommendations to improve efficiency and record keeping. AM H&S also can assist in distribution by managing the process as well as auditing for compliance. Current technologies allow many options that will improve your SDS program.
Creation/Revision
AM H&S can audit existing SDSs to ensure compliance with the most recent regulations including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Department of Transportation (DOT). AM H&S also can create SDSs for new or modified products as well as conduct the necessary toxicological review of your products, additives, and ingredients. An EPA and DOT regulatory review will also be performed to ensure the information presented on your SDS is accurate and modified to a diverse group of readers.
